P. K. Lahiri C. V.

Mr. P.K. Lahiri belonged to the 1959 batch of the I.A.S. and was allotted to the Madhya Pradesh Cadre. He has a Masters’ Degree in Modern History from Allahabad University and also did a Diploma in Development Studies (with distinction) from the University of Cambridge, U.K.

He was Chairman,Executive Board and General Council, Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, now redesignated ISM(IIT), Dhanbad,for three terms of 5 years each, till 2015. During this period the Institute witnessed phenomenal expansion, under his stewardship.

He served as an independent Director on the Boards of Tata Sponge Iron Ltd. (from 1997 to 2011) and is on the Boards of certain other Companies. He was the Co-Chairman of Management Council of the Atomic Minerals Division (AMD) of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India from 2007 to 2011. Earlier he chaired the Committee that submitted its report to the Department of Atomic Energy on Augmentation of Uranium supplies.

A book titled ‘Decoding Intolerance – Riots and the emergence of terrorism in India’ authored by him has been published by Roli Books as part of their Lotus Collection. This deals with the burning issues of communalism and the emergence of terrorism in India. A Hindi Translation of the book has also been published by Rajkamal Prakashan. In 2018 a second book titled : A tide in the Affairs of Men : A Public servant remembers, authored by him was published by “Roli Books”.
